Uber Eats menu synchronization
To improve usability, we have revised the navigation structure. It can be switched via "Activate new navigation" in the dashboard. As part of this update, some terms have been adjusted and navigation items reorganized. This entry already uses the updated navigation structure and new design. For more information about the new navigation, please refer to this overview.
What
Synchronization aligns data from the POS system with Uber Eats, ensuring that both platforms are identical.
Where Admin: External services > Delivery portal account.
Admin: External services > Item exchange. |
When we sync a menu to Uber Eats:
- We take the restaurant’s internal menu (from SIDES).
- We convert it into the format that Uber Eats expects.
- We upload it to Uber’s system via their API.
- If Uber Eats accepts it, the menu is live within minutes!
✅ What you need to check first
Before diving into technical details, confirm:
The restaurant is active in our system.
The menu is visible and up to date in SIDES.
The Uber Eats credentials are correct, and the store is live and connected to Uber Eats (under Admin: External services > Delivery portal account).
Item exchange account for Uber Eats is created (under Admin: External services > Item exchange).
Reach out to SIDES Customer Support to help with the set up if you do not have it already set up.
1. Go to the admin navigation bar under Admin: External services > Item exchange and open the account by pressing the sync button
.
2. Start item exchange for one or for all stores.
3. When the status is "Success", than the menu was sent to Uber Eats successfully. Go to Uber Eats to see your results.
💡Basic item set up for Uber Eats
Here you will find the details of where you need to add data for it to be synced to Uber Eats correctly.
To edit any items, go to Navigation under Admin: Item management > Item > Find the item you want to edit and click on "Edit".
- In the section "Item", displayed item name (displayed item name), description (item description on Uber Eats), deposit, and "Contains alcohol" label (this will display "You must be 18 or older." message on Uber Eats) can be found. Only Sales items will be sent to Uber Eats.
- Please add net quantity of your product as text in description field.
- In the section "Extra", if "Multiplier for the price of the base unit:" is added, it will be used to multiple the price of the product by this multiplier and automatically be added to the details of the item as a comment. It will be skipped if it is 0.
Alcohol content will also be sent during menu sync. The exact percentage will be added to Uber Eats.
In the section "LMIV mandatory details", extra information can be added. The information added here will either replace (in case of description) or will be added to the item details (such as ingredients, supplier, distributing company, country of origin, and instructions for use and storage).
We also added "Pre-packaged item" in the LMIV information. This was very important to Uber Eats team, and they will ask the restaurants to add this information in the future.
On SIDES, there are two ways in which all nutritional information is maintained. You can either either add all the nutritional data to items or to recipes. You can change your preference in the navigation under Admin: Global settings > Global store settings > Other settings > Master data settings for items, goods management and accounting. The toggle under "Assign nutritional values to item" will be the setting to determine where the source of your information will be.

For nutritional values added directly to items (meaning the toggle "Assign nutritional values to item" is on), you will have to add the nutritional values directly to ingredients (items marked as ingredients). Nutrition data, allergens, additives, can be added and edited under the section "Nutrition". Ingredients marked as sales items and will be directly synced to Uber Eats with all their details attached. Otherwise, this items can be used to make a recipe in the navigation under Admin: Item management > Recipes and then the recipe can be added to a sales item. The system will take all the allergens and additives and will calculate the nutritional based on the recipes made.
If nutritional values are added directly to recipes (meaning the toggle "Assign nutritional values to item" is off), you no longer can add any information to items directly, even if they are marked as ingredients. You will have to create recipes (under Admin: Item management > Recipes) and attach them to the sales items. You can add nutritional information, allergens and additives to each recipe. Then you will add the recipe to the sales items. You will not be able to add recipes to ingredients, but instead you will have to create a sales item with a recipe for that ingredient.
In the navigation under Admin: Item management > Recipes you can create as many recipes as you want. The nutrition, allergens and additives added here will be passed over to the item it is assigned to.
