The new start page of your webshop version 2
We have completely redesigned your webshop start page to provide your customers with a modern and consistent shopping experience.
The goal of this comprehensive redesign is to combine a premium visual appearance with new and helpful features. Thanks to the clear structure, your customers can navigate more easily and access important areas directly from the start page.
The new layout is divided into horizontal rows. Each row is considered an independent component that fulfills a specific purpose.
A key advantage of the new start page is its dynamic nature: the content automatically adapts to the status of each visitor. Guests are shown helpful information about registration, while logged-in users see a personalized view with their favorite products or recent orders.
Activating the start page
To display the start page in the tile layout, the corresponding option must be enabled in the webshop settings.
Procedure:
- Navigate to: Admin:
Webshop & App > Webshop settings > Webshop version 2 >
Start page > Webshop start page.
- Enable the option "Start page with content in a tile layout".
- Click "Save" to apply the settings and then publish the changes to the live shop.
The individual components of the new start page are explained in detail below:
Product recommendations
Functionality
This element is designed to prominently highlight selected items on your webshop start page and present them in a visually appealing way. The component consists of a fixed text section and a movable product bar where customers can swipe or scroll through different product cards.
The system automatically displays the items that you have stored as recommendations in your administration area (a detailed description of recommendations follows below). If no specific recommendations have been configured, the entire section remains hidden on the start page.
A special feature is personalization: Customers who are logged into their account are greeted by name, which helps strengthen their connection to your webshop.
The display is divided into two logical areas, which are optimally arranged depending on the device (desktop or smartphone):
- Information area: Customers see a personal greeting such as "Hello {First Name}" if they are logged in. Below this, the main headline "Our newest products" is displayed, along with a short introductory text inviting them to browse. Using the "Show menu" button, customers can access your complete product selection with just one click.
- Product bar: In this section, the recommended items are displayed in a horizontal row. Each card shows a product image, the item name, and a button that allows the product to be added directly to the cart. The design intentionally shows the last visible card slightly cut off at the edge. This serves as a visual cue indicating that more products can be discovered by swiping sideways.
Target group
This feature is intended for all visitors to your webshop who are looking for inspiration or want quick access to your latest offers.
For you as the operator, this component is an effective tool to strategically promote new arrivals or timeless bestsellers. Logged-in returning customers particularly benefit from the personalized greeting, which enhances the shopping experience and gives your shop a more professional appearance.
Activating product recommendations
Product recommendations are displayed on the start page as soon as a corresponding recommendation has been configured in the administration area.
Note: Without a configured recommendation, nothing will be displayed on the start page.
Steps to configure a product recommendation:
- Navigate to Admin: Marketing campaigns > Banners/recommendations.
- Click "Add banner" to create a new banner.
- Under "Display", select the option "Recommend item to shopping cart".
- Enter a "Description" for the recommendation.
- Select the "Store" in which the recommendation should be displayed.
- Under "Recommend item", select the products that should appear on the start page.
Leave the fields "Display starting from order value" and "Increase the maximum number of items per x EUR order value by 1" empty.
- Define the "Validity" of the recommendation.
Note: Without a defined validity period, the recommendation will not be displayed. - Click "Save" to activate the product recommendation.
Start page vouchers
Functionality
This section highlights up to three of your most important vouchers directly on the start page. This feature helps draw your customers' attention to current discount promotions and encourages them to complete their purchases.
It is important to note that only vouchers explicitly marked as "Start page voucher" in the administration are displayed here (a guide on how to activate the start page voucher is linked further below). Additionally, only vouchers for which an image has been uploaded in the administration are considered.
The system differentiates between publicly available and exclusive vouchers. If a voucher is intended only for registered users, it will appear locked to guests. This provides a strong incentive for new visitors to register or log in to your shop.
If no corresponding vouchers are currently configured, the entire section will automatically remain hidden to maintain a clean layout.
This section provides a clear overview of the following details:
- The main headline "Available coupons" along with a motivating subtitle that encourages savings.
- Up to three voucher tiles (up to two on smartphones), each displaying an attractive image, the voucher name, a short description of the promotion, and the validity date.
- A small lock icon in the upper right corner of the image and the link "Unlock coupon" if access requires a login. When customers click this link, the login or registration dialog opens directly.
- A button labeled "Show all coupons" that takes your customers either to a complete list of all available savings or directly to your menu.
Target group
This component is highly relevant for all visitors to your webshop. It helps convert occasional shoppers into registered customers and rewards loyal customers for their engagement.
Your customers benefit from a quick overview of their current advantages without having to search for discount codes, making the shopping experience in your shop significantly more attractive and convenient.
Activating the start page vouchers
The start page vouchers are displayed as soon as the corresponding feature has been activated in the administration area.
Additional details on configuring and using the start page vouchers are available in the guide "Show vouchers on the webshop version 2 start page".
Functionality
This element displays all important information about your locations directly on the start page of your webshop. The component is programmed to automatically adapt depending on whether a customer has already selected a store or not.
If a location has been selected, the specific details are loaded so your customers immediately know where to pick up their food or how to contact you.
If no store has been chosen yet, this section serves as a guide to the store locator. An integrated map also provides quick orientation in the vicinity of your business.
The content displayed depends on the current selection status:
- If a store is selected:
- The heading "Your Store"
- The exact address, marked with a location icon.
- An overview of the opening hours for the entire week. The current weekday is highlighted in bold so your customers can immediately see how long you are available today.
- Your contact details, divided into email address and phone number.
- A button labeled "Order now" with an arrow icon, leading directly to the menu.
- An interactive map showing the location of your business marked with a pin.
- If no store is selected:
- A general introductory text encouraging customers to search for a store near them.
- A link that leads directly to the store list page.
- A large map providing an initial overview of your service area.
Target group
This information is useful for every visitor to your webshop. New customers can quickly find out whether you are located near them, while returning customers can use the details to contact you by phone or check your current opening hours.
As the operator, this component ensures that your customers can find all essential information without having to search through the menu.
Your favorites
Functionality
This personalized element on the start page of your webshop appears exclusively for customers who are logged into their account and have already saved items as favorites. It is designed to speed up the purchasing process for your returning customers by displaying their favorite products immediately after they access the page.
The system automatically shows up to three of the most recently added favorites. If a customer has saved fewer than three items, the view adjusts accordingly and displays only the available products.
For guests or logged-in users without any saved favorites, this entire section is automatically hidden to ensure that no empty space appears on your start page.
In this section, your customers are presented with the following information
- The inviting heading "Your Favorites" along with the motivating subtitle "What you love, just a click away".
- Up to three product tiles (up to two on smartphones), each displaying the respective product image and a short description of the item. The description is automatically shortened to ensure all tiles have the same height.
- A direct link labeled "Order now" on each tile. Clicking it immediately adds the product to the cart and redirects the customer to the product list. If no store has been selected yet, the store locator will automatically open first.
- A button labeled "Show all your favorites" that redirects your customers directly to the complete overview of their favorite items within their personal profile.
Target group
This feature is specifically designed for your loyal customers who order from you regularly. They appreciate not having to search for their preferred meals or products every time.
For you as the operator, this element is an important customer retention tool, as it significantly shortens the path to checkout and enhances the shopping experience through its personal touch.
Your last orders
Functionality
This new section on the start page of your webshop provides logged-in customers with a compact summary of their most recent purchases. The purpose of this feature is to make the reordering process as quick and easy as possible.
If a user is logged in and has previously placed orders with you, up to three tiles displaying the details of their most recent purchases will appear. The system automatically identifies whether the order was for delivery or pickup.
If a customer has not placed any orders yet or is visiting as a guest, this entire section is automatically hidden to keep the layout of your start page clean and organized.
In this section, your customers can see the following details at a glance:
- The main heading "Your last orders" along with the subtitle "Did it taste good? Order it again".
- Up to three tiles (up to two on smartphones) showing the order date in the format "Ordered on DD.MM.YYYY".
- An indication of the order type with a matching icon and the text "Delivery" or "Pickup".
- A summary of the order, including the number of items and the total price, for example "3 items • €24.50".
- The action link "Order again". Clicking it immediately adds all products from that order back into the cart. If the customer has not yet selected a store, the store locator will automatically open first.
- A button labeled "Show all your orders" that takes the user directly to their full order history in their personal profile.
Target group
This feature is ideal for your regular customers who enjoy their favorite meals on a recurring basis. It saves them time, as they do not need to browse the entire menu again and can repeat their previous order with just a few clicks.
For you as the operator, this is an effective customer retention tool, as it increases convenience in your webshop and significantly lowers the barrier for reordering.
Functionality
This component is displayed exclusively to visitors of your webshop who are not yet logged into their customer account. Its purpose is to highlight the benefits of registering or signing in, thereby strengthening your customers’ connection to your business.
What makes this section special is its dynamic nature: the content automatically adapts to the settings you have chosen for your webshop. For example, if you have activated the loyalty points system or loyalty program, these benefits will be promoted instead of the standard features.
On a computer, three tiles are displayed side by side, while on a smartphone they appear stacked to save space.
The section begins with the main heading "Your account benefits" and the accompanying text "With an account, you unlock a variety of great benefits". Below this, three tiles are displayed, which vary depending on your webshop’s configuration:
- Tile 1 – Create account: This tile always appears and highlights the basic benefits with the title "Create your account". The link "Sign up free" takes your customers directly to the registration page.
- Tile 2 – Favorites or loyalty points: By default, this tile shows "Save your favorites". If you have activated the loyalty points system, the display automatically changes to "Earn bonus points" with the link "Learn more".
- Tile 3 – Addresses or level progression: In the basic configuration, customers see "Save your addresses" with the link "Save addresses". If you use the loyalty program with different tiers, the title changes to "Level up" with the link "View levels".
Each tile also includes a matching icon and a brief description that clearly explains the respective benefit. All links lead the user directly to the sign-in or registration dialog.
Target group
This element is specifically designed for guests and potential new customers. It serves as a tool to immediately showcase the added value of your webshop. By promoting features such as collecting points or saving favorite items directly, you motivate visitors to create a permanent account.
This not only makes future orders easier for your customers but also allows you to target your buyers more effectively and build long-term loyalty.
Functionality
This dynamic element replaces the general customer benefits section on the start page once a user has logged into their account. It provides your customers with a personalized overview of the current status of your various loyalty programs.
The component is displayed only if at least one of the following systems is activated in your webshop: internal loyalty points, Leat, loyalty tiers, or digital stamp cards. The layout follows a fixed logic to highlight the most important information.
On a computer, a maximum of two tiles are displayed side by side, with internal loyalty points always taking the preferred left position. On a smartphone, the tiles are stacked vertically for optimal readability on smaller screens. If only one system is active, the adjacent space remains empty to maintain a clean design.
This section presents the following information to your customers:
- The main heading "Your reward" with the subtitle "Collect, redeem, and enjoy".
- Individual tiles for each active loyalty program.
- For internal loyalty points, customers see their current point balance. Even if the account is empty, a motivating status encourages them to start collecting.
- Loyalty tier tiles inform the customer of their current level.
- Digital stamp cards display progress toward the next full card.
- If the external service Leat is used, its status is shown in a dedicated tile.
All information is retrieved in real time, so customers immediately see their updated status after placing an order.
Target group
This element is intended exclusively for your registered returning customers who are logged into their account. It serves as an important tool for customer retention by making your customers’ achievements immediately visible.
Your customers do not need to search within their profile, they see their exclusive benefits directly upon entering the webshop. This increases motivation to place additional orders to reach higher tiers or collect more points for attractive rewards.
Functionality
This new element on the start page of your webshop allows you to prominently promote your social media profiles. You can add links to up to six different platforms directly in the "Webshop theme settings" (instructions for adding the links are provided below).
The system works dynamically: it only displays buttons for which you have actually entered a web address. For example, if you only use Facebook and Instagram, only these two platforms will be shown.
The element is always positioned in the left half of a row on your start page". If no profiles are linked, the entire section, including the heading, is automatically hidden to prevent gaps in your webshop’s design.
Your customers see the following in this section:
- The inviting heading "Follow us on".
- Individual, colored tiles for the platforms Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
- The layout automatically adapts to the device. On a computer, the icons are displayed side by side in a clear structure, while on a smartphone they appear in a compact view.
- Each tile acts as a direct link, taking your customers immediately to your profile on the selected platform.
Target group
This feature is valuable for you as a shop operator if you want to increase your reach and engage your customers beyond the webshop.
The information is aimed directly at your end customers. This gives them an easy way to find you on your preferred social media channels, view your latest posts, and get in touch with your business.
The social media tiles appear on the start page once a corresponding web address has been entered in the administration area.
Steps to activate the social media tiles:
- Navigate to Admin: Webshop & App > Webshop settings > Webshop Version 2 > Marketing & Social Media.
- Enter the desired links to your profiles (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
- Click "Save" to apply the settings, and then apply the changes to the live shop so the tiles appear on the start page.
Note: Without any links entered, no tiles are displayed. For example, if only Facebook and Instagram are entered, only these two platforms will appear.
App download
Functionality
This element on your start page allows your customers to quickly find and download your mobile app for Apple or Android devices.
The display of this section depends on whether you have added the corresponding links for the Apple App Store or Google Play Store in the "Webshop theme settings" (instructions for linking the Apple App Store and Google Play Store are provided below).
The system automatically checks these settings: if no links are entered, the entire tile is hidden. In the standard computer view, this element is positioned on the right half of the row, directly next to your social media links.
If no social media links are provided, the app download tile automatically shifts to the left to optimize space.
In this section, your customers are presented with the following:
- Your custom logo for strong brand recognition.
- The inviting heading "Download our app".
- The motivating subtitle "Keep your favorite food just a tap away".
- Buttons for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store (only the buttons for which you have entered a link will be displayed).
- In the computer view, an illustrative preview image of the app is also shown.
- All links open in a new browser tab so that your customers do not leave your webshop.
Target group
This feature is especially valuable for your returning customers who regularly order via their smartphone.
Having a dedicated app increases the visibility of your brand directly on your customers’ mobile devices and makes the ordering process even more convenient. It is particularly appealing to users who prefer a fast and modern shopping solution.
By placing it on the start page, you ensure that every visitor is immediately informed about your mobile offering and can install your app with just one click.
Activating the app download
The app download tile appears on the start page once the corresponding app links have been entered in the administration area.
Steps to activate the app download:
- Navigate to Admin: Webshop & App > Webshop Settings > Webshop Version 2 > Marketing & Social Media.
- Under "App application", enter the links to your app in the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store.
- Click "Save" to apply the settings, and then apply the changes to the live shop so the app download is displayed on the start page.
Note: Without any app links, the app download tile will not be displayed. If only one store link is entered (e.g., Google Play Store), only that button will appear.
