Introduction
The setup assistant guides you step by step through the basic configuration of your SIDES app. This allows you to quickly and reliably set up the language, operating mode, user access, and printers.
Requirements
- A tablet or computer with the SIDES Restaurant POS App installed
- Login credentials (username & password)
- Internet connection
- Printer on the same network (if a printer needs to be set up
Step-by-step guide
1. Start: Select language
- Open the POS app, and the setup assistant will start automatically. If you want to start it manually, go to Menu > Maintenance and select "Start setup" under "Setup assistant".
- Under "Select language", choose your preferred language.
- Click "Continue".
2. Set app mode
- Select the desired operating mode:
- "POS"
- "Kitchen Manager"
- "SOT" (Self-Ordering Terminal)
- Enter the URL of your system (e.g., https://*.simplypos.de).
- Optionally, enable:
- "Auto-Login" for automatic Login
- "Auto-Start" for start automatically
- Click "Continue".
3. User login
- Enter your username and password.
- If "Auto-Login" is enabled, select the desired terminal/cashpoint under "Login to".
- Click "Continue".
4. Printer setup
4.1. Search for printer or enter IP
- Click "Search for printers" to automatically look for available printers on the network.
Or: Enter your printer's IP address and click "Check". - Once the printer is shown as "Online", you can select it.
4.2. Configure printer
- Enter a "Printer name" (e.g., "Kitchen printer").
- Select a character set (default: "Page 16: CP1252").
- Under "Select template", choose the receipts to be printed (multiple selection possible).
- (Optional) Enable "Bitmap Mode" (if you want to print unsupported characters as a bitmap) and adjust scaling/paper width.
- If needed, perform a test print:
- "Printer info"
- "Charset" (Character set)
- "Text test"
- Click "Continue" to go to the summary, or click "Save and add another" to add an additional printer.
5. Summary
- Review all settings in the summary:
- Operating mode
- Auto-Login
- Username
- Cashpoint
- Printer including status
- If everything is correct, click "Done".
Tips & notes
- Tip: Make sure the printer and tablet are on the same network – otherwise, the printer will not be found.
- Note: The receipt types must be selected in the printer setup; otherwise, the printer will not be able to generate receipts.
Issues & troubleshooting
- Printer not found:
- Check if the printer is turned on and connected to the same network.
- Try entering the IP address manually.
